The Ghana Education Service (GES) has cautioned teachers using Basic Education Certificates as their highest Certificates to teach in the Senior High Schools to return to the Basic Schools.
According to a document released by the National Secretariat of the Ghana Education Service on August 9,2018 ,all teachers who obtained their Bachelor of Education in Basic Education, and use their Certificates to teach at the Senior High Schools as subject teachers should meet up with their District,Municipal or Metropolitan District Education Directors to repost them back to the Basic Schools to teach.
The GES indicated, that the practice was in contravention with the Education Act of 2008 and the Ghana Education Service stipulated minimum requirement for a person to teach in the Senior High Schools.
The Ghana Education Service emphasized, that by the directive given, all teachers under the above-mentioned category are advised as a matter of urgency, to liase with their District Directors for re-posting to the Basic level before the beginning of the next Academic year, September 1,2018.
