FRENCH LANGUAGE IS GOOD THOUGH, BUT CONSIDER OUR LOCAL DIALECTS AND MAKE QUALITY EDUCATION A PRIORITY -Educate Ghana Summit Boss.

The known Educationist, Motivational Speaker and CEO of Educate Ghana Summit, Mr. Boadi William has advised government that, making French Language a second language is a good initiative but quality education must be a priority.

According to Mr. Boadi, "Education is the kindling of a flame, not the filling of a vessel". Ghana's education system can't find light since 1987 when our curriculum was changed from Middle school leaving certificate to Basic Education Certificate Examination(BECE), that is Junior Secondary School, and its caption was later changed to Junior High School(J.H.S). Policy makers are egotistic because they don't opt well for us. They usually do anything for doing sake and send their families abroad to acquire knowledge from a well planned education system.

French education is preferably awesome, simply because it helps in business transactions, administrative procedures and makes the world globally friendly though. This certainly should not be a second language but must be part of our subjects in our schools with the needed conditions. By so doing, this will aid understanding in the teaching and learning of the proposed language. We should always value our own local dialects spoken by about 26 ethnic groups in Ghana. Considering the performance of pupils in English. Records from W.A.E.C and GES indicates that, we have a lot more to do in order to attain high quality education as a country.

Therefore, we must bethink of our local dialects and be proud of it. That may help us to sustain our culture and value it. Even the ideology behind English language is bad because, English language must not be used to measure level of intelligence for it is just a language.

Candidly speaking, we have a big problem with the English language in Ghana owing to, the lazy approach and unevenly distribution of the national cake. Most schools lack teaching and learning materials and that has compelled teachers to teach language like science, social studies etc. This menace has introduced examination malpractices in our exams centres. These are the reasons most university graduates can't even speak and write good English language.

Finally, government must ensure quality education and focus on our local dialects. And, teaching and learning materials should be equally distributed to schools, no matter the location, status, ethnic group or gender.

I am a citizen, not a spectator.
