Attitudinal Change Conference: Full Speech by Mr Boadi William

Below is the full speech of Mr Boadi William, CEO of Educate Ghana Summit

THEME: Ghana is not poor; we need attitudinal change to transform Ghana

Madam Chairperson, District Chief Executive, Rev. Ministers present, The CEO of Mega Line Consult, Traditional Leaders, distinguished guests, fellow teachers, my able educators, students, ladies and gentlemen, all protocols duly observed. The theme for this conference is *Ghana is not poor; we need ATTITUDINAL change to transform Ghana.* Yes! Indeed, we need attitudinal change to improve our beloved country Ghana now! I want the Ghanaian people, you and I to know that our motherland Ghana will only develop if we change our attitude from negative to positive.

Mad. Chairperson, the following are some negative attitudes we exhibit that are adversely affecting our nation; embezzlement and misappropriation of state funds, mismanagement of state resources, vigilantism, bribery and corruption, careless driving leading to road accidents, improper disposal of waste, victimization, arm robbery, kidnapping, tribalism, few to mention.  These and many other social canker, when eschewed, will pave way for massive development. It only takes attitudinal change.

What do we mean by positive attitude?
A positive attitude is a state of mind that envisions and expects favourable results. The willingness to try to do new things. Furthermore, It is the belief that every bad thing would turn right. In other words, it helps one to see the good in order people. A positive attitude means positive thinking. Also, It is optimism and maintaining a positive mindset. To sum up,It is a mental attitude that focuses on the bright side of life.

Mad. Chairperson, According to Oprah Winfrey "The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude"

It is said that "a bad attitude is like a flat tyre; if you don't change or mend it, you can never move on".

Mad. Chairperson, Ghana has everything
that a country supposed to have but our negative attitudes and bad mentality have redirected Ghana's breakthrough/improvement. There are natural resources, renewable and non-renewable ones such as Gold, Diamond, Manganese, Bauxite, Aluminum, Cocoa, Timber and now, oil. Timber is in abundance but we still have some students/pupils sitting on the bare floor during lessons in some parts of the country. Some teachers walk more kilometres to their workplaces because there is no accommodation for them in their school communities.

Surprisingly, in Ghana, most of us have academic and professional degrees, however, our attitudes are purely negative and far from developing the nation. We really need a positive attitude to manage what Ghana gave us, to yield economic development and financial freedom. We need a positive attitude to bring transformation to our country.

Mad. Chairperson, the kind of negative attitude we portray towards public sector work is a cause of worry. These are lateness to work, office sex, favouritism, nepotism, victimization, tribalism, political interference, bribery and corruption, social media attention, lecturers, tutors and teachers exchanging sex for marks in some of  our  universities, polytechnics, second cycle institutions and even our basic schools, can only end if we develop a self-discipline and positive attitude because positive thinking leads to righteous living.

Mad. Chairperson, I am of the view that the economic hardship, bribery and corruption, lack of equipment in our hospitals, road accidents, poor performance in schools, kidnapping, teenage pregnancies, littering of environment, child abuse etc will not end until we change our negative attitude to a positive one.
It is observed that 80% of Ghanaian parents mind their business more than their children's education, meanwhile, parents are natural teachers. That has also increased teenage pregnancies and parental irresponsibility in the country. The future of our country is shaking.

In the area of vigilantism, everyone is against it,  but what are doing about it? As strong and energetic youth of the nation, we have allowed ourselves for politicians to use us as machinery to cause havoc because of the peanut we receive from them. The youth of Ghana, let us arise and say no to hooliganism and vigilantism!! What shall it profit us if we destroy our future today? Where are the children of the politicians? Ask that politician who hires you to fight for him,  to invite his/her children to take the lead in the fight. I won't blame the scarcity of jobs,  but those who refuse to create the jobs. We must think about Ghana first!

Mad. Chairperson, it's often very sad to see projects championed by the previous government but the ruling government refuses to continue it. The reason being that the credit will be given to his predecessor, meanwhile the project will be beneficial to the citizens and the nation. We have left those state funds that have been invested into it to go waste. We must take off our political lens and defend Ghana now!
Ghanaians are sitting on money but we leave it and travel to abroad for greener pastures which sometimes end on sad notes.

Mad. Chairperson, it's about time
Ghanaians had a national policy to transform the nation not political manifestos. Also, we need entrepreneurship skills oriented system of education to equip our young ones to create their own jobs after school. That will go a long way to help reduce the unemployment rate in the country. Politicians must not meddle with education.

It is seen that party communicators have been trained to paint their opponents black Just to score political points for their parties if they know their opponents are doing the right thing. Ghana first!

Mad. Chairperson, most Ghanaians do litter the environment and expect zoom lion to sweep the refuse. When it rains, we loose lives of our beloved ones to the floods because of our own negligence. why? We need ATTITUDINAL change to save lives.
We need patriotic leaders and followers with a positive attitude to build Ghana now!

Mad. Chairperson, in Ghana today, we see and hear some pastors preaching wealth more than salvation. Some Christians also spend most of their working hours in the chapel and wait for miracles rather than being serious with their work. They expect success, but they eventually end up loosing even the little that they have. We need to change.

Mad. Chairperson, let us all have an attitudinal change now to transform Ghana and make it great and strong. A great scholar once said, "attitude is everything".

To round up, fellow Ghanaians, Palms 37:27 says "depart from evil, and do good, and dwell forevermore" Amen. For negative attitude is evil. Therefore, let's depart from it and go for a positive attitude to change our lives and Ghana now.

Come one, come two, come all and support Educate Ghana Summit to educate the nation rightly and uplift the flag of our dear country higher.

Long live Ghana
long live Educate Ghana Summit

Thank you.
