LET'S PERFORM THE FUNERAL OF YA NAA YAKUBU ANDANI II AS BROTHERS AND SISTERS - Educate Ghana Summit

The funeral performance of Ya Naa Yakubu Andani II should not be seen as ‘do or die’ affair, but a step towards finding a lasting solution to the over-a-decade canker. It would be recalled that, the Abudu gate performed the funeral of their father, Ya Naa Mahamadu Abdulai IV, from the 14th to the 28th of December, 2018 without any hindrance. Same is expected of their half brothers,the
Andani gate as they start the funeral rites of their father, Ya Naa Yakubu Andani II from today, the 11th to 18th of January, 2019.

The names Abudu and Andani are not referring to two different tribes or clans, but rather two brothers from the same father. Naa Yakubu Nantoo gave birth to several children including Naa Abdulai Nag'biegu (Abudu) and Naa Andani Naanigoo(Andani).
The descendants of these two brothers are the Abudu and Andani that we have today as opposing factions.
 With reference to the above background of same ancestry, Educate Ghana Summit - northern regional branch, hereby calls on the sympathizers  of both gates to let peace prevail in the kingdom before, during and after the funeral performance.
We again call on government of Ghana to strengthen the security visibility in and around Yendi and its environs. This, we believe, will ensure that anybody whose aim is or will be to go and cause trouble will be discouraged.
Educate Ghana Summit, northern region, sympathizes with those who have already lost loved ones and properties as a result of a violent confrontation between the entourage of Sagnari Naa and a group in Yendi. We appeal to stakeholders to call on the youth to let calm prevail. For there is only one Dagbon.
To conclude, Educate Ghana Summit, will like to call on all the youth of Dagbon not to allow themselves to be used by any individual or group of individuals to perpetrate any act of violence during the funeral performance.
