NABCO INTERVENTION IS GOOD, BUT NOT ENOUGH - Educate Ghana Summit Deputy CEO.

NABCO is only an intervention to help reduce unemployment for a period of time by which the government, may establish or create more jobs.

The Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Educate Ghana Summit Mr. Abanga Justice has emphasised that although, the intervention is a positive one, it has many lapses that need to be addressed. He posited that,
Government could have invested the "ocean-amount" that is going into NABCO, into the indeginious companies to expand their businesses. This, he said will go a long way to help the private companies to employ permanently, majority of these GRADUATE-YOUTHS-IN-NABCO because NABCO is only a short term intervention, lasting for only three years. The programme is recruiting over one hundred thousand (100,000) graduates to receive a stipend of seven hundred  Ghana cedis (Gh¢ 700.00) only.

The question here is, what then is the fate of these graduates after this contract is over? Likewise the National Youth Employment Programme (NYEP) beneficiaries,  NABCO will also leave its beneficiaries jobless at the end  of the contract.
The government must therefore think of creating new jobs or expanding the existing ones and also assist the private sector to widen their companies in order to absorb these young graduates.

According to him, the beneficiaries must use the opportunity to look for other alternatives before the contract folds up.
