GOVERNANCE; THE MISCONCEPTION OF GHANAIANS -Educate Ghana Summit CEO.

🇬🇭 PRESS RELEASE
8-10-2018

Taking a stroll through Agormanya market in the Eastern Region part of Ghana, Lower Manya krobo District on  Saturday 29th of September, 2018. I came across a busted pipe line with water oozing out like a newly drilled bore hole.
People saw it but the best they did was to standby and stared at it like a movie.  A man from no where went near it as if he was going to repair it but to my surprise, he rather filled his drinking bottle and left the scene.
The question I then asked was;
Is it true that governance is entrusted in the hands of some few Ghanaians as it?.

Based on this perception, Educate Ghana Summit, made a simple survey to ascertain the fact about how the Ghanaian individual thinks about government properties and institutions. Amazingly, it was observed that many Ghanaians think that governance belongs to some few individuals (the politicians) and so, the masses do not care about whatever happens to government properties or goes wrong in the government institutions. This has lead to a total negligence of the individual responsibilities in the country and it is seriously retarding the progress of the nation. Educate Ghana Summit is therefore, reiterating that
Governance is neither a one man affair nor for a group of few individuals, but for all the citizenry.

It also came to light that, the intolerance of some political leaders in the country is causing some responsible Ghanaians who are ready to assist in the nation building shirk their responsibilities and expertise. Others also seem to be reluctant in contributing to Ghana's progress because of the following factors.

1. Some political leaders refuse to accept the views of the people in the country.

2. Some citizens who can, and are ready to positively influence our economy are not given the necessary attention and are sometimes even being targeted.

3.Taking the credit/glory for an achievement chalked up by an opponent without acknowledging the achievers.

These create the thinking that, governance is all about political parties ( NPP and NDC) alone.
It is high time the  fact is told! Politicians must be aware that they are voted into power for development. They are to serve the electorate but not to be served. They are also expected to exhibit some level of tolerance for the citizenry.

To the people of Ghana, we must not always rely solely on governments for development. Governance demands that, we must all join our forces together in the nation building.
Ghana can truly be beyond aid, if only we would all be citizens but not  spectators.
