Technical and vocational education is not for academically weak persons

The Brong Ahafo regional chairman for the Ghana national tailors and dressmakers association, Samuel Asante Addo says the technical and vocational education in the country and over the world is not a reserve of the academically weak persons in the society who could not pass their examination, but it is for everyone who is ready to make impact to the world.
” there is this erroneous perception which has become accepted by society that technical and vocational education is there for those who failed their basic education certificate examination ( BECE) and the West African senior certificate examination (WASCE) . This is not true. ” he added.
Mr Asante made this known when the national tailors and dressmakers association Brong Ahafo chapter held it’s 5th biennial Conference at Mim in the Asunafo north municipality of the Brong Ahafo region of Ghana under the theme ” using tailors and dressmakers to move Brong Ahafo region forward ”
According to Mr Asante, about four hundred and ninety tailors and dressmakers across the region who participated were given on – job – refresher training to update themselves to New trends of fashion designs ,technology . Also they were thought in good communication skills and market experience and general counseling pertaining to the work.
Mr Samuel Asante Addo paid a glowing tribute to the president of the republic for the free senior high school education and pleaded that technical and vocational education is also considered in the free education and training. He also added that it will be their greatest joy I’d at the end of their training, the government is able to support them with start up kids and amount of money to start. ” our association and members in it could also be remembered in national education awards and appreciation to boost them up for the work.
” we are appealing through this medium to the rest of the world including NGOs, donors, philanthropists and lovers of technical and vocational education to come to our Aid and support the association with tools and equipment for training and start up Funds to graduated students to start something of their own to make impact in the world.
The association in its four days conference used the occasion to donate blood go the mim and Goaso hospital blood banks to save lives and also visited some tourists places and sites including the mim cave and stones, the mim cashiew plantations Factory, the abandoned mim Ayum forest products Limited etc.
