EXORBITANT CHARGES & UNFAIR TREATMENT BY THE UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST - Educate Ghana Summit reveals.

EXORBITANT CHARGES AND UNFAIR TREATMENT BY THE  UNIVERSITY OF CAPE COAST - EDUCATE GHANA SUMMIT.

The university of Cape coast made its maiden admission of a five semester bachelor of education program in July 2017 into selected colleges of education campuses.
This is a program initiated by the university is to upgrade teachers holding the DBE certificate to a Bachelor of Education ( B.ed ) certificate on a sandwich module.
A semester under this module is six weeks as compared to the sixteen weeks of the regular module.
Students are charged as high as GHc 1,870 for their six weeks of stay on campus.
Aside this exorbitant fee, handouts are prepared and sold to students at costs that are mostly unbearable to students.
It is highly disgusting  to see students paying as much as Ghc2300 on just fees and handouts for a six weeks semester.
We ask, are there not laws in this country on educating Ghanaian citizens any longer?
Life on the various campuses especially the B.ed Mathematics and B.ed Science campus Wesley College, Kumasi has always been a hell.
Upon  the extravagant charge by the university, many students are left to their fate as to their welfare on campus.

"No bed syndrome."
Students will have to take there mattresses at night in search of where to perch.
The so call dormitories are highly congested .
Students will have to go to people's farms to free their bowels since there are just few toilet facilities on the said campus which cannot even cater for half the students population.
The bed bug infestation has become an additional course of study, since it is on the rampage.

Subsequently, the meal given to students purported to be charged 15ghc a day ( 5ghc per meal) can either be compared to  piggery feed or  too small for the students.
Welfare on campus is no different from what goes on in Ghanaian prisons.
It is very much annoying how students pursuing an undergraduate programs treated by the university.
Many students have relented on the program due to this kind of unwarranted treatment by the university.

Educate Ghana Summit having considered the plights of this aggrieved students is calling on the University authorities to as a matter of urgency,

1. Review  fees for those on this module of study.
2. Ensure that, students welfare on campus is made pleasant to them.
3. Make the compulsory feeding component of the feeding optional.
Educate Ghana Summit  hopes that, the university authorities upon this notice will quickly address these conditions before these students who were threatening a protest and were calm by the Summit resort to any other ways of getting their plights resolve.
