CORPORAL GODZI's ASSAULT OF NURSING MOTHER IS BARBARIC-Mrs MARIAN ADZROE
Good afternoon fellow Ghanaians.
What is Ghana our beloved nation turning into? Have we forgotten we are one people with a common destiny? What has eaten deep into our social fibre and tearing it apart? Have we lost our sense of empathy?
The above questions, l need answers to.
As a women activist and an aspiring deputy Volta regional women's organizer in the upcoming regional elections within the National Democratic Congress, l must say that, l was very disheartened and totally dumbfounded to see a video yesterday on social media of Corporal Frederick Godzi assaulting and battering a nursing mother. How on earth will he treat a woman like that, when a woman carried him in her womb for nine months before giving birth to him?
The Ghana Police Service with its different police units with different specialties l know, are out there to perform distinctive functions from each other, though all aimed at achieving the same objective of maintaining law and order in our country.
As a citizen, l know that, the duties of the Police Force are to prevent and detect crime, to apprehend offenders and to maintain public order and safety of persons and properties.
Apart from the normal Police duties, the Police render other important services to the public.
It is very clear that, through the barbaric conduct of Corporal Godzi , he has breached the aspect of "safety of persons" and rather did otherwise so something should be done to him as early as possible.
Has it gotten to this level? Are we becoming sick as a country? I cannot fathom, there were people in the banking hall of Midlan Loans and Savings but no attempts were made to refrained the unprofessional corporal from going on with his inhuman action towards the nursing mother.
Cudos to the Minister of Interior for the action taken so far but then Ghanaians should not to be told very long stories at the end concerning this heartless Corporal.
Something drastic should be done to that heartless corporal in order for it to serve as deterrent to other police officers.
I am of the view that, the Police Administration should intensify its efforts to ensure that personnel deliver the best of services to members of the public and put in place measures to check the problem of unprofessional conduct occasionally exhibited by some personnel in their service delivery.
I am by this statement calling on all Ghanaian women across the country to stand up as we join forces to fight justice for this nursing mother.
The workers of Midlan Loans and Savings should equally be interrogated and punished if they contributed to the barbaric act.
I will conclude by saying that, Corporal Godzi has shown gross disrespect for our growing democracy and other police officers should learn a lesson from what has happened and be very professional in the discharge of their duties.
Let love lead us all!
Signed
Mrs Marian Adzroe
