Educate Ghana Summit(E G S) congratulates the government for the implementation of this program to curb the alarming rate of graduate unemployment in our country.
We want to use this opportunity to catalog our views on this initiative.
It is imperative to note that, unemployment of our youths is the master behind most social vices in the country.
Hence the need to channel our energies to tackle this syndrome.
We understand that, the NABCO program is designed to combat this canker.
The program which comprises of seven modules such as
1.Revenue Ghana
2.Digitize Ghana
3.Civic Ghana
4.Enterprise Ghana
5.Educate Ghana.
6.Feed Ghana
7.Heal Ghana
Graduates will be recruited into either of this modules on a three year contract of which there will be a monthly allowance of Ghc700.
The plights of Educate Ghana Summit.
There is barely a month to the commencement of job by the graduates who will successfully be qualified from the ongoing nationwide interview.
1.The implementing body is yet to come clear on the funding of this initiative.
2. What are the modalities going to be as far payment of this allowance to the beneficiaries is concern?
We have seen the case of the YEA where beneficiaries have to work for a number of months on empty stomach.
3.Will this graduates be able to access financial support such as, loans from financial institutions on merit of their job just as colleagues employed into other sectors of the economy do?
Subsequent to this, we wish to register our displeasure to the orientation of the program.
The development of Ghana today depends on SKILLED labour.
Our checks revealed that,
HEAL GHANA which is one of the modules requires Professionals in health care.
DIGITIZE GHANA also requires experts in information technology (IT) .
We wish to put to the Secretariat of the program that, the other modules requires skilled personnel too.
Education we say is the bedrock of every nation.
The case of Ghana seem to be different.
Everybody is a formal educator.
Why poison the little children claiming we are teaching them.
Disabling their brains claiming we are educating them.
We want the NABCO Secretariat to know that, Educate Ghana is as delicate as Heal Ghana.
Not until we regard education as a professional art, our country shall continue to dwell in mess.
We want persons equipped with teaching skills in the Ghanaian classrooms.
The political scientists is not a classroom teacher and the vice versa.
Ghana today is challenged with the type of unemployment we call structural unemployment.
We keep on producing graduates who in fact have no role in our economy today.
We call them water tights experts.
There skills are obsolete to the present day economy.
We suggest a curriculum rehabilitation in our education system.
Until then, we must be circumspect in national issues.
