•Today, the Minister of Food and Agriculture will be presenting a total of 216 of these brand new pickups to the 216 district directors towards the implementation of the Planting for Food and Jobs programme.
• Every district will get ONE PICKUP
• During the NDC’s time, there plans by the Canadian Government to give the Ghana Government a grant to support Agric Extension Services.
• When we assumed office in 2017, we realized the NDC was going to use the grant to buy cross country vehicles and other Agric unrelated items. Immediately we took over, we engaged the Canadian Government and renegotiated the whole grant to allow us to use the money to buy pick-ups, motor bikes, improved seeds and other support for the Agric Extension Agents (AEAs) to support the Plating for Food and Jobs.
• Again note that, the NDC hitherto was going to use the whole GHC500 million grant to buy land cruisers and use the remaining amount as operational expenses but thanks to the Akufo-Addo Government for renegotiating the entire agreement, this money is been used to strengthen the Agric Extension Services which virtually collapsed under the NDC 8 years rule
• This project is called MAG (Modernizing Agriculture in Ghana) and they are collaborating with PFJ
